When I heard baby number 3 had arrived, I was really curious to see who the baby looked like as there is dark brown, blond and red hair in the family. As October is coming to an end and November is nearing (yikes!!!), looking back I have to say we've had a pretty decent October. Usually I'm always in the studio due to the constant rain or unreliable weather forecast, but this month I actually managed to head outside for for a few sessions.

This session was taken at Stanley Park a couple weekends back and man did it ever feel good being outside enjoying the sun. Now mom just wanted some super candid shots and as one of her children is an active two year old, she thought it best that the session take place outside where little Miss. R could run, run, run! Wow, am I ever glad we did because that is exactly what she did. I forgot how much energy two year olds have!!!! Olga, I had a wonderful time getting to know you better and hanging out with you and your gorgeous family!

Meet baby Ken at just over 2 weeks old. I think mom and dad were a little worried at first that Mr. Hungry wouldn't settle down and get his photo session finished. The thing with newborns is that they run the show! Actually, I think they continue to run the show after the newborn phase as well... so I hear! LOL!

After many feedings and lots of cuddles, there were some great images captured.

I Can't Believe A Year Has Passed! - Victoria Photography

A whole year has gone by and my cutey pie nephew is now a one year old! Oh my gosh, he has changed soooooo much! He loves, loves, loves reading books, he's learning how to walk and the whole world is his playground.

Now, I'm not trying to brag or anything, but he really does seem SUPER SMART for a one year old and I can't help but think that he is just the cutest thing ever!!

As any parent knows, when your child is young they just have to taste EVERYTHING!!!!

The next three pictures are a little series I happened to capture of my darling little nephew tasting some sand. Numerous other things went in his mouth during our outing at the park, but the sand was a little more amusing to me. I found that I kind of wanted to stop it before it happened, but at the same time it was kind of funny. So instead I grabbed my camera. Is that bad?

You can see in the first picture he's checking out the sand and you just know what's going to happen next... right?

.... and there it is! In the mouth the sand goes! Haha, mom tries to scoop all the dirt out (Jacob doesn't look too impressed) and auntie takes a picture and laughs at them both! Bad auntie, bad auntie!!

I just had to add a couple photos of bath time as well. Since I don't get to see my nephew as much as I would like to (and of course my sister as well!!!), I follow them around everywhere, including diaper changing and bath time.

After washing Jacob's hair, mom had a little fun and played hair stylist. You can just see that he's loving bath time. Oh my gosh, I just love him to bits!!!

He's checking me out. Yes, I'm am your "favourite" auntie!!!! Brain washing and spoiling starts NOW!

My cousin and I grew up visiting each other at every holiday, going to summer camp together and sometimes visits in between. This little darling was absolutely hilarious and had me falling over with laughter. She plopped herself down and just sat there and talked and talked and talked and then talked some more. It ended up raining on their wedding day, but that didn't stop Jon and Alisha from having wonderful day and a ton of fun! Because the rain wouldn't let up, we ended up heading under the Burrard Bridge to dry off, have a few cocktails and get some great pics.

Mom got in touch with me and was a little panicked, not realizing that newborn pictures should be done within the first couple of weeks. Having a newborn is hard work! If you are like 99% of other moms with newborns, you are sleep deprived and recovering from the birth... AND depending how the birth went, moms are not always up to a photo session within the first two weeks! Completely understandable!!!

This session was done at 6 weeks and look how adorable baby H is! It's never too late to get some pictures of your little babe!

This little doll was such a sweetheart. Mom and dad were a little worried because she didn’t nap properly before the session. Nap times can be tricky to work around when you have a portrait session scheduled. It’s Murphy’s Law that on the day of the shoot they’ll decide to sleep at a different time… or not sleep at all. This next portrait session was a special one. Not only was it a chance to get some family portraits done for Christmas, it was also Griffin’s first birthday. I can remember when Griffin came in as a newborn and again at six months. I can’t believe he is already one year old! Oh how the time flies by and it’s just crazy to me how much every child changes… even in just a short six months!!!! Time must seriously fly by for parents!

On November 8^th I spent the day at the Vancouver Baby & Toddler Fair. It was wonderful to meet everyone and check out all the stations. It was my first time at a baby fair and I can see why so many parents would want to attend an event like this. So many great products and great entertainment for children!

I had my own little photo booth set up at the fair. Here are a few of the cutties that decided to stop by.

I had a great session with this little guy, he was full of all kinds of great expressions and super curious at of the super cool lights in the studio. The ceiling lights were just way too cool... I seriously must have 50 pictures of him staring straight up, checking out the lights. So funny!

I have photographed this next little angel in her mother’s tummy, as a newborn and now at a year old. Lily is my cousin's little girl and is just the cutest little thing ever!!!!!! Kim (my cousin) and I grew up spending holidays together, going to camp together and getting into trouble together. The next three kids were really adorable to work with. The oldest sister just LOVED to pose for the camera (future model???), the brother was a big goof and helped me make his younger sister laugh by dancing behind me for a good 10 minutes and the youngest was just a little precious angel who lit up around her older brother and sister. They were all so sweet and just loved playing with each other. So nice to see!

My trip to Nanaimo | Vancouver Island Photography

I was in Nanaimo over the long weekend to visit the family, meet up with friends, have a turkey dinner and discover I was going to be an auntie!!!!! Yahoo!!! I’m just way too excited about the whole situation. Congrats Andrea and Mike!

So this next family is actually my girlfriend's two boys. We met up at a park, let the boys play and of course caught up with each other. It really is nice going home!

Cayle was showing me his climbing skills which I found to be very impressive! Not only is he a great climber but he is also an awesome big brother as well!

Cake Smash | Vancouver Baby Photography

Sophia just turned one and to celebrate this once in a lifetime milestone, her parents organized a cake smash photo shoot. Now, when I do baby portraits I find that they can last about an hour and then they start to get a little fed up and cranky. Such was the case with Sophia. However, we saved the cake for the very end (obviously as it is just soooo messy!!!) and boy oh boy did she ever perk right up. So funny! She was so captivated with this cake we placed in front of her! She would hug herself and do a little wiggle dance of pure joy. Too cute!

9 Months & Beautiful!

When I first met this little sweetheart, it was serious business while she took in all her surroundings. It didn’t take long for her to get comfortable, loosen up and have some fun! Love the big brown eyes!!!!

Olya & Karl Tie the Knot!

Vancouver Wedding Photography – What can I say about Olya and Karl? They are AWESOME! They are honestly such a sweet couple who are just totally into each other and it was so neat to watch their dreams fall into place.

Their wedding day was forecasted for rain so when I woke up that morning and took a peek outside, all I felt was relief. I know Olya was praying her little heart out for no rain and we were all blessed with such a beautiful day…. with a beautiful sunset to finish it off!

Olya and Karl, I hope you two are enjoying your new beginning together. Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your big day. You two rock!

Vancouver Wedding Photography – Stephanie and Hamish tied the knot last Saturday at a beautiful and funky restaurant called The Brix. What a gorgeous venue!! As we all know, last Saturday was right in the middle of the heat wave and man was it hot, hot, hot!!!!… but what a gorgeous day to get married on!

Vancouver Baby Photography - Claire is as sweet as they come and was just a dream to photograph. Mom and dad just plunked her down and she was the happiest little girl to sit there. I can only hope that when it's my turn to have children that they are as good as her! Of course, I do have to thank Claire's mom and dad for jumping around, doing backhanded somersaults, flips, and all kinds of gymnastics to keep Claire happy and smiling. It was actually quite entertaining and funny to see...and even funnier to laugh at them! lol! I have to say, I'm always amused at what will make little ones laugh. Claire would just chuckle right up when mom would sing out "Claire Bear"! Claire Bear??? How amusing is that!?

Okay, enough of me telling you all how adorable Claire is. It’s time to see it for yourself!!!

Amazing Vancouver Family!

Vancouver Family Photography – The great thing about being a photographer is you get to meet some really great people. This family is so awesome! The parents are so relaxed and chill and the kids are outgoing and all over you. Ezra, the oldest boy, is such a little charmer! He has completely stolen my heart! When I had first arrived at the park, he came running out at full speed yelling at me, “Sacha, Sacha, Sacha, hi Sacha!” I had taken pictures of him earlier in the year so he knew who I was. He ran right up to me, grabbed my hand and passed me a small stick and asked me if I wanted to play swords. Our whole session was a big play date I suppose. I am a big kid at heart after all!

Now, I am also a big yoga freak and do yoga regularly. When I found out that mom has her own yoga practice where she offers various family yoga classes, I thought… what a great idea! She has prenatal, postnatal, mom and baby and other great yoga classes. What a great way to stay healthy and meet other moms as well! You can check out her various sessions at Little Tree Yoga. When you meet Lou Lynn, you will love her! Such an amazing person!

Engagement session at Granville Island

I love Vancouver and all the great locations to photograph around the city. Olya and Karl chose Granville Island for their engagement session. There are great urban settings, gorgeous flower gardens everywhere, cute little ponds and the ocean all in one spot!

It was wonderful spending the afternoon with these two. Karl and Olya are definitely totally into each other and just a really sweet couple. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at Stanley Park in August!

Chubby Cheeks, Smiles & Tears

However, the poor little guy was just getting over being sick and was also getting hungry at his session. Now, it may sound a little cruel… but when he started to cry he had the cutest little pout on his face! I just couldn’t resist firing off a couple shots before mom went to comfort him. Sorry Connor, you were a real trooper!

Stephanie and Hamish are the sweetest couple and really know how to have fun with each other. Of course, Hamish might have been a little nervous at first, but we were lucky enough to check out the Brix Restaurant (where they are getting married) before hand where we were all hooked up with the BEST MOJITO’S EVER!!!! That was enough to loosen everyone up and Stephanie and Hamish… you totally rocked it and had fun! That’s all it takes to get some great photos!
